The Madison Photography Meet-Up Group gathered for our December meeting to play with studio lighting and to investigate smiling vs non-smiling portraits. We had a little FUN, too! I’m posting the fun, silly portraits on my blog, and John Berry is posting the serious portraits on his blog with an explanation of our lighting techniques. The ooooohhhhhh so talented John took all the pictures …..(except this ‘Pig’ image of himself which I shot).
So here’s John… we’ll title this one ‘Pig Head’.
And me….. “SHE-lock Holmes” …or maybe “Sherlock Sourpuss”…
Tyler….. “Horn Head”. This image was fun to make. I was crouched down behind Tyler while John directed me so my hands weren’t in the picture. ”Horn Head”.
Ron got his Elvis on…. “Rock Star Elvis”.
…and just plain “Rock Star Ron”. (((this is a super cool image!!!)
John…. “Grandaddy Eyebrows”. There’s mischief in those eyes… can you see it?
Tyler…. “Googly Eyes” …exactly how he feels after long days and nights working in the architecture studio in grad school!
Me again… John was trying to get a picture of me, non-smiling, with my eyes OPEN. Somehow I managed to shut my eyes just as he was about to click. So after a handful of closed-eye images, I made SURE to have my eyes open for one….. Gotcha!
Be sure to come out and join us for some photography fun …IF the image above didn’t scare you toooo much. We teach and learn from each other. Each month we try something new…. and obviously end up having a little fun, too! We did take some serious images, and here’s a sample…
Be sure to visit John Berry’s blog post HERE to view the more serious portraits with an explanation of the lighting techniques we used.
Au revoir!
